In a stife between the township of Brugg and Lenzburg about grassing of their cows, two Hilfikers, Ruodi and Hans were mentioned anno 1418 for witness the first time.</div> <bR> <div> Ruodi Hilfiker from “Othwissingen” (village of.Othmaringen) said; “before the Zurich-war having heard from his father and aldermens several things.” The Hilfiker were also living at this time in Othmarsingen, that means earlier than the Bernese conquered this part of the later canton Aargau.</div> <bR> <div> By the book “Story of the town of Lenzburg” from •J.J. Sigrist you will find an excerpt from the cancellors-manuals Hans-Ulrich Hilfiker, a “winnow-maker” has come to Lenzburg 1584 and became admanished to desist from the babtisme and had “to go to church”. It looks that he wouldn't do so an at the end he was imprisoned. At October 30, 1589 a preacher, Ulrich Grimm tried to convert him and got the answer: “If your priests were ok, much more citicen would be blessed”, the following day he sweared away in front of the cancellors this saying and was penounced by 5 pounds.</div> <bR> <div> 1590 again he offered his house for babtism-sermons. Later it seams he abjured the babtisme again but was summond to the council for “not going to church” and “not having holy communion”. The 30 of April ac. the choir-judge pressed Hana-Ulrich Hilfiker to swear on Mayday probably the first of May in front of the council and the citicen “to go to church” otherwise he should be ejected from the town or brought to Bern as a prisoner. Finally he was expelled but in September of the same year we will find him together with some women of Lenzburg at. a babtists-assembly.</div> <bR> <div> At June 11<FONT SIZE="1" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" >th</FONT> 1592 Ulrich Hilfiker and Appolonia Kieser babtised in the church of Kölliken their son Jakob and 1596 also in the same church Jakob Hilfiker and Vreni Rätzer get married. Hans-Ulrich Hilfiker also was named as witness at the babtisme of Elizabeth Wittower (today probably named “Wittwer”) at February 16<FONT SIZE="1" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" >th</FONT> 1606 and 1639 Joggi Hilfiker a babtist became hided.</div> <bR> <div> In 1677 the register of properties had to be renewed. By the rubric “House and ground taxes” an addition of old country-taxes as first remarque: “Hans-Ulrich Hilfiker, the winnow-maker's child has to pay 1 pound and 5 shillings.”</div> <bR> <div> Immediate after the expulsion from Lenzburg the family Hilfiker appeared in Kblliken. Did Hans-Ulrich Hilfiker, “the babtist and winnowmaker” find acceptance here and founded the “Kölliken-Hilfikers”? The above named introductions in the named birth-, wedding- and dead-register shows the facts.</div> <div> The couple Hilfiker-Rätzer babtised in the church of Kölliken, 8 children, son Hans, born 1603 had as his husband Barbara Suter. The sons of this couple, Ruedi, born 1628, founded the “Kölliken-Branch” and Jakob, born 1642 the “Safenwiler” on's.</div> <bR> <div> Felix Hilfiker, the beadle of Lenzburg donated a pane with his arms to the church of Gontenschwil. But this were the arms of the masters of Hilfikon near Villmergen with the exchanged colors!! The old family from the Hilfikon Chateau had a black elephant with yellow tusks, yellow girth and a red tower in a silver-shield, the pane on Gontenschwil instead, painted by Hans-Ulrich Fisch (Fish) shows a white elephant in a blue shield.</div> <bR> <div> As a curiosity it must be mentioned that the Lucernese councellor-family of the “Sonnenberg's” to whom the Chateau Hilfikon belongs a certaine time had, beside of their family-arms also the elephant of Hilfikon, red in a white field.</div> <bR> <bR> <div> This translation is made from “25.
